I am interested in telecommunications, but I don’t know anything about it. Will I be able to learn enough to help me start a career in this field?
Yes, the telecommunications certificate program which is one semester long will prepare you with basic fundamental knowledge in telecommunications.

How much will the certificate course cost?
For NC residents the cost of the course is $1347.79. For out-of-state students the cost of the course is $4407.79. These prices include registration and curriculum fees, books, lab fees, student fees, certification exam fees, and graduation fees. (These prices are subject to change. )($25 if student marches in graduation ceremony)

Is it possible for me to tour the school’s facilities before I start?

Yes, call the NC School of Telecommunications at (919) 776-5812 and arrange for an instructor to spend personal time with you showing you around and answering your questions.

What additional requirements are employers looking for?

There are many opportunities for work in the field of telecommunications. A willingness to relocate or travel is helpful. Employers are also looking for employees with clean driving records and backgrounds. There are also opportunities for students with military security clearances who are willing to relocate.

How long does it take to complete the Telecommunications Certificate Program?

The Telecommunications Certificate takes one semester to complete. The class hours are Monday thru Friday from 8:00-12:50.

Will my Telecommunications Certificate transfer into the Telecommunications Diploma Program?

Yes, the certificate can be transferred over to the diploma program at Central Carolina Community College. The Diploma program will take an additional two semesters to complete or a total of three semesters.

How do I get to the NC School of Telecommunications?
Follow Hwy US 1. Take Hwy 15/501 north. Turn right onto Deep River Road/Old US1. Turn right onto Womack Road, which will take you into the Lee County Industrial Park. NCST is located on the left on the corner of Clyde Ryhne Drive and Womack Road.

Can I apply for financial aid for the Telecommunications Program?

Are there any scholarships available?
Yes, the Lawrence Scholarship. There is also a grant available for Women in Non-traditional jobs by applying through the special programs office.

Can I use my VA for the Telecommunications Certificate and Diploma?

Yes, the telecommunications certificate or diploma is an accredited program which VA recognizes.

Can I use military TA if I am active duty?
Yes, TA is granted through your local education center and is accepted by Central Carolina Community College.

Does the NC School of Telecommunications or CCCC offer job placement?

No, however, many employers contact the school requesting graduate resumes. Some companies visit the school to inform the students about opportunities with their company. A willingness to relocate to where the company has work is helpful in obtaining employment. Central Carolina Community College also has a Career Center which offers students assistance.
